Sometimes you just can’t make it to the bank. We certainly understand, but your bills won’t. We have some good news: with mobile deposit, you can put your check in your account without taking your slippers off.


Deposit checks with your iPhone®, iPad® or mobile phone or tablet for Android™ anytime, from virtually anywhere. No need to worry about getting to the bank before it closes. With Personal Mobile Deposit you can deposit a check into your Columbia Bank account when it’s convenient for you.

 

Deposits will appear in your account once they have been accepted. Deposits not received and accepted by 6pm PT on a business day will be processed the next business day. The receipt and acceptance process can occur within minutes or may be delayed due to connectivity or other technical issues. Deposits initiated at or shortly before 6pm PT on a business day are at risk of delay until the next business day due to insufficient receipt and acceptance lead time.

How do I access Personal Mobile Deposit?

Personal Mobile Deposit is a feature available within the Personal Mobile Banking app. If you currently have Columbia Bank’s Personal Mobile Banking app downloaded to your iPhone®, iPad®, mobile phone or tablet for Android™, you automatically have access to Personal Mobile Deposit. Once you log in to Columbia’s Personal Mobile Banking app, look for “Deposits” on the menu list. You can make a deposit using your mobile device simply by selecting the “Deposits” menu item and following the easy steps shown on your screen.


If you are already enrolled in Personal Online Banking but have not downloaded Columbia Bank’s Personal Mobile Banking app, visit an app store using the links below. Personal Mobile Deposit is not available through the web-based or SMS-based mobile banking options.

Is there a fee to use Personal Mobile Deposit?

Columbia Bank does not charge a fee for the service, however a mobile carrier’s web access, data or text messaging fees may apply.


Are there limits to the types of checks that are accepted?

All checks deposited through Personal Mobile Deposit must be in US dollars and drawn on a US bank, which include: personal checks, business checks, and cashier’s checks.


Is there a daily deposit limit?

Yes, there is a daily deposit limit of $2,500 per business day. You may make multiple deposits in one business day, however the total of those checks must not exceed $2,500. If a deposit exceeds the daily limit the deposit may be rejected.


What is the cut-off time for same-day deposits?

Deposits will appear in your account once they have been accepted. Deposits not received and accepted by 6pm PT on a business day will be processed the next business day. The receipt and acceptance process can occur within minutes or may be delayed due to connectivity or other technical issues. Deposits initiated at or shortly before 6pm PT on a business day are at risk of delay until the next business day due to insufficient receipt and acceptance lead time.


How soon will funds be available?

When a check has been successfully submitted to the bank, the deposit will appear as “pending” in the mobile deposit history within the app. Funds will be available the morning after the deposit status changes to “accepted” in the app.


How do I view pending mobile deposits?

Mobile deposits will not appear in your pending transactions within Personal Online Banking until the morning after the deposit has been accepted by the bank, which is typically the next business day if the mobile deposit was made prior to 6pm PT. You may immediately view all of your mobile deposit history within the Personal Mobile Banking app by clicking on the “Deposits” menu item and selecting “View Deposit History”. This screen will provide you with all of your pending, accepted and failed mobile deposit history.


What happens if there is an issue with my deposit?

If there is an issue with the check or the submission, the deposit will appear as failed on your mobile device and you will receive an email from us.


How long should I keep the physical check I deposited?

Checks deposited through Personal Mobile Deposit should be securely stored for at least 60 days from the date of deposit, and should be properly destroyed no later than 90 days from the date of deposit.


How secure is Personal Mobile Deposit?

Personal Mobile Deposit offers the same level of security as Personal Mobile Banking and Personal Online Banking. For added protection, the images are stored at the bank and not on the mobile device.

Please endorse the back of the check you are depositing with “For Mobile Deposit Only”. This will ensure your check is deposited in a timely manner.
