A message from Randy Eslick, President of Merchants Bank of Commerce Division

Merchants Bank of Commerce has been operating as a division of Columbia Bank for several months following the close of our merger. We made the decision to retain the Merchants name for a period of time to benefit from the strong reputation in northern California. Some recent news has accelerated the timing and as a result, we have made the decision to change our approach to operating under the Merchants name. On October 11, 2021, Columbia announced a new partnership with Umpqua Bank which also operates locations across California. As a result of this pending partnership and the planned expansion of our California branch network, we have made the decision to transition the branding of our locations to Columbia Bank. You will begin to see the Columbia Bank name reflected on all signs, in our branches, on our website and on statements starting in January.

The decision to move to the Columbia Bank name will simplify the transition of your Merchants Bank products and services to those offered by Columbia Bank on March 14, 2022. The change of name will help reduce any confusion when you are looking for ATMs or branches and will make locating the correct banking apps less confusing when searching various app stores.
