Melanie J. Dressel was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Columbia Bank, the sole commercial banking subsidiary of Columbia Banking System, Inc, in January 2000, and has served as CEO of Columbia Banking System, Inc. (COLB) since February of 2003. Columbia Banking System, Inc, is the holding company for Columbia Bank, headquartered in Tacoma, Washington, with over 150 branches in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Dressel joined Columbia Bank in 1993, at the beginning of the Company’s major expansion into Tacoma/Pierce County, as Senior Vice President of private banking. In May 1997, Dressel was promoted to Executive Vice President of retail banking where she directed the operations, investments, private banking and marketing/communications divisions of Columbia Bank, as well as the branch network.

Prior to Columbia, Dressel directed the private banking division of Puget Sound Bank. Between 1974 and 1988, she held various positions with the Bank of California.

Ms. Dressel is a graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in political science. She is a member on the boards of The American Bankers Association, Puget Sound Energy, Executive Council for a Greater Tacoma (past Chair), Washington Bankers Association (past Chair), Washington Roundtable and the Washington State Historical Society. She also serves on the American Bankers Association Grassroots Committee, the Bellarmine Benefactors’ Trust and is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council (CDIAC).

In the past, she served as a board member of Foss Waterway Development Authority. She further served as chair of the boards of Mary Bridge Children's Foundation, Bellarmine Preparatory School and Tacoma/Pierce County Chamber of Commerce. Other past volunteer activities include serving on the board and executive committees for various organizations, including the Tacoma Art Museum and United Way of Pierce County. Melanie Dressel was honored as 2011 Community Banker of the Year by American Banker magazine, and was also named four times by the magazine as one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking. Ms. Dressel was awarded CEO of the Year by Seattle Business Magazine’s inaugural Executive Excellence Awards in January 2013.

Kumi Yamamoto Baruffi joined Columbia Banking System and Columbia Bank in September 2014 as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Ms. Baruffi oversees Columbia’s legal services, including providing legal support for the company’s board of directors, and legal oversight of corporate and regulatory matters.

Prior to joining Columbia, Ms. Baruffi was a shareholder and member of Graham & Dunn, PC’s board of directors and financial services team, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and regulatory compliance.

She holds a law degree from Boston University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Wellesley College. Born in Hong Kong and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Ms. Baruffi speaks English, Japanese and French. She has served on the board of directors for the Japanese American Chamber of Commerce and in 2014 was named one of “Washington’s Super Lawyers” in Banking.

Dave Lawson joined Columbia Banking System and Columbia Bank in July 2013 as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. He provides leadership in human resources, organization development and performance improvement for all divisions of Columbia Bank. Mr. Lawson oversees Columbia’s employee relations, talent acquisition / retention, leadership development, training / education services, compensation/benefits, organizational development and performance improvement functions.

Mr. Lawson’s experience spans over 34 years, and includes an 11-year tenure with Franciscan Health System serving the south Puget Sound region. In his role as senior vice president, he oversaw the human resources and education functions for six hospitals, a network of primary and specialty care clinics and physicians in Pierce, King and Kitsap counties along with two additional hospitals in Oregon, employing 11,000 employees. Mr. Lawson is a SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) and holds a B.B.A. from Pacific Lutheran University.

He is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management and the Northwest Human Resources Management Association. Very active in the community, Mr. Lawson is currently serving on the boards of the CHI Franciscan Foundation, Step by Step, Mountain View Community Center and Shanaman Sports Museum of Tacoma-Pierce County and Workforce Central of Tacoma-Pierce County.

Andy McDonald EVP & Chief Credit Officer 1301 A Street Tacoma, WA 98402 253-305-1994

Andy McDonald joined Columbia Bank on June 1, 2004 as Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer. Prior to joining Columbia Bank, Mr. McDonald was Senior Vice President and Team Leader at US Bank. In 18 years of banking, he has served as a Team Leader for a Media and Telecommunications Banking Group, as well as a Senior Credit Officer and Relationship Manager.

Mr. McDonald has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Washington, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame, where he was accepted into the accelerated MBA Program and graduated with Honors.

Mr. McDonald is currently a Board member of the Pierce/Thurston County Junior Achievement Association, and the South Sound Boys and Girls Club and was recently the Chair of the American Heart Association’s 2012 Heart Ball. He is a former Board Member of the Tacoma Pierce County Chamber of Commerce as well as Big Brothers and Big Sisters of King, Pierce and Kitsap Counties.

Hadley Robbins was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Columbia Bank and Columbia Banking System, Inc. on March 1, 2014. He directs the majority of the bank’s customer-facing business lines, which include Commercial Banking, Retail Banking and Wealth Management, as well as other supporting functions

Mr. Robbins joined Columbia on April 1, 2013 as Senior Vice President and Oregon Group Manager with the merger of West Coast Bancorp, where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer since 2007. His experience spans over 35 years and includes a variety of executive positions with Wells Fargo Bank, Pacific Northwest Bank, Bank of the Northwest and First Interstate Bank. He holds an MBA from the University of Oregon and a BS in Business Administration from Lewis and Clark College.

He is currently serving on the board for the Freshwater Trust and on the Oregon Bankers Association board of directors. His past activities have included the Downtown Portland Rotary Club and the Portland Crime Commission.

Clint Stein joined Columbia in 2005 as Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer. Prior to Columbia, Mr. Stein was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Albina Community Bank in Portland, Oregon. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Business Administration from the University of Idaho. His post-graduate education includes the Graduate School of Bank Financial Management, and the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.
