Foreign Currency
When you rely on Columbia Bank for your foreign currency needs, you will:
- Take advantage of fast and convenient ordering of currency over the phone.
- Order and pick up your foreign currency at any Columbia Bank branch.
- Avoid possible collection fees and charges that may be incurred when you send U.S. dollar checks for collection.
Columbia Bank buys and sells most foreign currencies. Major currencies—the euro, English pound, Mexican peso and Canadian dollar—are normally stocked at all times (Canadian dollars are stocked at select branches). Other currencies and special orders are available upon request and can be obtained within one to three business days.
A foreign currency rate sheet for nominal amounts is prepared daily by the International Banking Department. For large amounts, please call the International Banking Department Foreign Exchange Desk directly at 253-305-0423.
Ordering Currency
You can order currency over the phone (253-305-0423) and pick your currency up at any Columbia Bank branch.
We carry the following currency at all times:
- Euro (Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland (Rep.), Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain)
- Mexican peso
- English pound
- Canadian dollar (Stocked at select branches)
Payment is required upfront at the time of the request.
Currency not held in inventory can be available at the Columbia Bank branch of your choice in most cases within two business days after we receive your order if we receive your order by 2:00 PM.
Note: For outlying branches it may take up to a week. Contact your local branch for availability.
