Heart Health Starts with Small Steps: Take a Pledge to Live Healthy for Good

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over 610,000 people die of heart disease every year. It's time to talk heart health and get serious about making healthy habits for a lasting change. We are partnering with the American Heart Association to make pledges to live Healthy For Good.

Change starts with a single step. By taking the Healthy For Good pledge, you'll receive a quarterly email from the American Heart Association with tools and resources to help you maintain your healthy pledge. Discussing your goals with your healthcare provider can also help as you build habits around healthy lifestyles.

  • Eat Smart: Simple solutions to make grocery shopping, cooking and eating healthier.
  • Add Color: Tips and hacks on adding color to your life with fruits and vegetables.
  • Move More: Easy ways to put your body in motion and love being more physically active.
  • Be Well: How to sustain healthy habits for overall wellbeing, including sleep, stress relief, weight management, mindfulness, social connection and more.


Eat Smart

Eating healthy doesn't have to mean dieting or giving up all the foods you love. Learn how to ditch the junk, give your body the nutrient-dense fuel it needs and love every minute of it! Make healthy delicious choices wherever and whenever you eat.

Take the pledge to:

  • Drink more water.
  • Drink fewer sugary beverages.
  • Consume less sodium.

Add Color

An easy first step to eating healthy is to include fruits and vegetables at every meal and snack. All forms (fresh, frozen, canned and dried) and all colors count, so go ahead and add color to your plate—and your life. Make life more colorful with more fruits and vegetables.

Take the pledge to:

  • Add one more serving of fruit or vegetables to each meal.
  • Try a new type of fruit or vegetable once a week.

Move More

A good starting goal is at least 150 minutes a week, but if you don’t want to sweat the numbers, just move more! Find forms of exercise you like and will stick with, and build more opportunities to be active into your routine. Infuse more movement into your life for optimal health.

Take the pledge to:

  • Take the stairs as part of your daily routine.
  • Add 30 minutes more cardio to your weekly workout.

Be Well

Along with eating right and being active, real health includes getting enough sleep, practicing mindfulness, managing stress, keeping mind and body fit, connection socially, and more. Create balance, vitality, and wellbeing through self-care.

  • Keep a daily gratitude journal.
  • Commit to 7-8 hours of sleep a night.
