It’s National Employee Appreciation Day: Time to Celebrate the People Who Make Your Business Great

As the pace of business gets faster and faster, it’s often difficult for companies to take a minute to stop and appreciate the most precious resource they have to offer – their own employees. For that reason, we at Columbia Bank want to join with thousands of other businesses around the nation in celebration of National Employee Appreciation Day. This blog post stands as both recognition of our people and the wonderful job they do, but also to gently remind our friends and colleagues among our clients to also take time to truly appreciate their own people.

First, we want to share five reasons why we appreciate the people who make Columbia Bank a great place to work and an even better place to bank.

  1. They’re dedicated to the community: Our employees volunteered over 20,614 hours in 2017 by offering their support to various causes, such as affordable housing and promoting literacy in elementary schools. With their help we were able to raise and distribute $303,949 in community support over the course of 2017 to nonprofit organizations across Washington, Oregon and Idaho.

  2. They’re loyal and celebrate one another: Whether it’s the birth of a new family member, an upcoming retirement or a milestone achievement, our team is quick to rally around and celebrate each other. When challenges arise, they are just as eager to step up and support one another in finding the best possible solution. We couldn’t think of a better place to spend our days than working alongside a group of people who are filled with such support and encouragement.

  3. They’re leaders: Throughout our ranks you’ll find individuals eager to provide expertise and assistance both in and outside of the workplace. When they’re not working hard to help customers achieve their financial goals, you’ll find them serving as board members or leading civic committees dedicated to helping the local community.

  4. They’re like family: When Columbia Bank was established in 1993, we had a dream of building a great community bank with people who cared about making a difference. Over the past 25 years, we’ve grown to a team of more than 2,100 employees who have an average tenure of more than seven years. Our employees are devoted to our mission and being the best bank we can be for each individual and organization we serve.

  5. They’re committed to finding the best solutions: Our success is due to the enthusiasm and dedication employees offer customers when providing the best solutions to meet their needs. From the implementation of the Columbia Connect Online Banking platform to the creation of new lending programs, our team leverages the latest tools and resources to help others accomplish their dreams one step at a time.

We’re honored to have a team filled with intelligent and passionate employees who are eager to do great work in both their personal and professional lives. We’re grateful for all they do each and every day on behalf of our customers and community.
