As we reach the halfway point and look towards the conclusion of the 2017 Warm Hearts Winter Drive, we wanted to take the opportunity to share heartwarming stories we’ve encountered and what’s next for Warm Hearts!
A Donation from the Heart in Clackamas
On a cold and rainy Thursday, a man named Dustin visited the Clackamas branch to cash a payroll check. While he was in the branch, he inquired about the Warm Hearts Winter Drive and whether it was local. “Absolutely,” client service specialist Victoria Coppola answered. They went on to discuss how Columbia Bank has ensured that any donations made at the branch would go to a local shelter. He generously supplied five, one-dollar bills and said, "I would like to donate because I was homeless," and he proceeded to share his story with Victoria.
“Not everyone chooses to be homeless,” he said with a shimmer of tears in his eyes. Victoria let him know that his donation would go to support the “Annie Ross House,” a local shelter in Milwaukie.
We are so thankful to Dustin for sharing his story with us and for his kind donation. If Dustin can donate $5, while living paycheck-to-paycheck, imagine the capacity the rest of us have to give? We hope his story encourages everyone to be as generous and thoughtful as Dustin this winter.
