What started as a conversation among Columbia Bank employees regarding the growing problem of homelessness throughout the Northwest has now become a multi-state movement toward providing support and warmth during the cold winter months.
Today marks the beginning of Columbia's third annual Warm Hearts Winter Drive a bank-wide campaign to provide much needed funds and warm clothing to 58 homeless shelters and nonprofits across the bank's Northwest footprint.
According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, there are more than 36,000 people in Washington, Oregon and Idaho experience homelessness. Especially during the cold and wet winter months, it's more important than ever to help our neighbors in need, and that's why we've launched our annual Warm Hearts Winter Drive - to help families and children struggling with homelessness. Now through Dec. 31, we are asking for cash and new winter wear donations at all of our more than 150 branches or online at warmheartswinterdrive.com. All donations and 100% of proceeds will be distributed to a local shelter partner from the community in which it was raised.
We are proud to continue partnering with our neighbors to help those struggling with homelessness during the coldest months of the year, said Hadley Robbins, president and CEO of Columbia Bank. Further, we are so glad to have our new colleagues and clients from Pacific Continental Bank join our campaign to provide warmth and comfort for those in need this winter.
How to Get Involved
In this, the third year of the campaign, we have set a bold goal of raising $225,000, and we need your help. We are asking that you consider making a donation to help those families and individuals struggling with homelessness. Read more about Warm Hearts Winter Drive or make a donation at warmheartswinterdrive.com, or visit a local branch to drop off new warm winter wear items including blankets, hats, gloves, socks and jackets.
Each year our employees and clients have continually raised the bar in direct donations and items. In the first two years, we have raised more than $300,000 and provided tens of thousands of winter wear items, to dozens and dozens of local shelters throughout the Northwest. This year, our goal of raising $225,000 would be our largest ever. And it all starts with you and your generosity.
Please help us end cold nights for our neighbors in need.
